Per the Sanborn map in Oct of 1885 there was only a skating rink at the corner of 4th and Main.
Howard & Straith constructed a 25x90 ft building next door to the American House, at the NW corner of 4th and Main. The bowling alley was very likely an arcade single lane and was up and running by July 1888 by H. S. Bidleman. Hardin had a confectionery business during Bidleman's tenure, then likely replaced by Fuller by August 1888 per the change in advertisement. No further reference to this bowling alley after the last advertisement in November 1888 but the American House is clearly seen in the 1891 Sanborn map. |
